25-Year Limited Residential Warranty
Bausen Hardwood, Inc. offers a 25-year limited residential warranty on the finishing and lifetime structural warranty of all floorboard products.
In the unlikely event that any portion of your floor should fail, with respect to any provisions of this warranty, Bausen Hardwood, Inc. at its sole option to the original purchaser, will repair, refinish or replace such portion with the same product or another product of equal value at no cost to the purchaser. If Bausen Hardwood, Inc. is unable to correct the failure after a reasonable number of attempts, Bausen Hardwood, Inc. will refund, if requested, the purchase price from Bausen Hardwood, Inc. for that portion of the floor that fails. This provision does not cover the removal, replacement of cabinets and other fixtures, sales tax, or the cost of new materials.
Bausen Hardwood, Inc. is not responsible for damages or costs incurred by delivery delays, order errors, improper installation, or poor jobsite conditions. The installer/owner is the final inspector and assumes the responsibility to determine if the product is correct and acceptable before installation begins.
Prior to installation, the installer/owner is responsible for inspecting and verifying materials and factory finish of the pre-finished hardwood flooring.
It is required that all orders for pre-finished flooring include an overage of floorboards – minimum five percent of the actual footage – to allow for proper cutting and installation. Discarded materials for reasons of structural defect shall not exceed five percent of total floorboard ordered. Please keep in mind that hardwood flooring products naturally vary in color and other characteristics, due to factors outside of manufacturers' control (such as exposure to sunlight). Thus, inherent variations in grain or color are not considered manufacturing defects.
Pre-Installation
Before leaving the factory, each piece of Bausen hardwood floorboard is closely inspected by our quality assurance team and carefully wrapped in sealed packaging for shipping. Prior to installation, we recommend that the homeowner examine the flooring material thoroughly to make sure that the color and appearance of the product meet expectations. Please be reminded that natural wood materials possess inherent and unique characteristics that cannot always be fully demonstrated in display samples. Display samples may also be affected by prolonged exposure to light.
Warranty on Product Structure
Bausen Hardwood, Inc.'s engineered hardwood products boast 5 to 9-ply cross-grained backing construction for stronger dimensional stability. The floorboard structure should not delaminate under normal living conditions. Please be reminded that it is normal for minor separations or gaps between floorboards to occur at different times throughout the year due to factors outside of manufacturers' control (such as moisture) and therefore are not considered structural defects.
25-Year Warranty on Product Finish
Under normal commercial conditions and with the proper maintenance, Bausen Hardwood Floors, Inc. warranties that its UV Cured Aluminum Oxide Urethane Finish will not peel or separate from the wood for 25 years. Gloss reduction can occur due to factors outside of manufacturers' control, which is not considered as wear-through and thus is not under warranty.
Lifetime Structural Warranty
Any structural failures are subject to the provisions of this warranty. Bausen Hardwood warrants that the floorboards will remain free from manufacturing defects for as long as the original purchaser occupies the building. The factory warranties apply only to the original purchaser and are non-transferable.
Radiant Heat Warranty
It is critical that the floor be installed to Bausen Hardwoods' specifications. The surface temperature of the floor should not exceed 85° F. Relative humidity should be maintained at a minimum of 35%. Hydronic, water-based radiant heat systems must be used. Use of electric mat systems is not authorized. Installation with radiant heat should be performed using the floating installation method.
Products Excluded from Radiant Heat Warranty: Hickory and Flooring which top layer thickness is more than 2mm.
Warranty Exclusions
Warranties are non-transferable, and apply to customers who originally purchased and installed Bausen Hardwood Floors. The original, paid-in-full invoice is required. Claims must be filed by the original purchaser who must still be the owner of the home. Bausen Hardwood, Inc. cannot warrant natural wood characteristics such as mineral streaks, small knots, grain variations. Due to inherent characteristics of natural wood, fine cracks may develop in the face of the wood. These cracks will not take away from the beauty and performance of your floor. However they can be minimized by maintaining the recommended relative humidity in the range of 30 to 50 percent and the temperature range of 60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, year-round inside the building. Wood floors installed on excessively moist ground without proper moisture barrier treatments are not covered under the warranty. It is important to ensure that the moisture content differential between your wooden subfloor and the Bausen flooring does not exceed four percent. If the difference is higher than four percent, a moisture retarder is required. In addition, prior to installation, the installer should make certain that sub-floors are properly inspected for moisture conditions according to the NWFA guidelines (visit www.nwfa.org for more information). Water damage due to other equipment such as pipes, faucet, toilet, dishwasher, icemaker, mopping are also excluded. The concrete subfloor moisture vapor emission rate should be kept under 4 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft., per 24 hours (according to Calcium Chloride Test ASTM 1869 standards established by ASTM International). If it is not, a vapor barrier is required.Additional exclusions include:
- Damage resulting from accidents, abuse, or abnormal wear (such as spiked heels), grit, unprotected furniture scratches or dents
- Insect infestation, scratches or stains caused by pets
- Incorrect use of wood flooring adhesives such as water-based adhesives (which should not be used under any circumstances)
- Wood color changes due to UV light exposure over time
- Buckling or cupping due to improper installation such as lack of expansion space left around objects such as walls and stairs.
- Products used for in-floor radiant heating systems
Any or all disputes arising out of Bausen Hardwood, Inc. products or this warranty shall be subject to mandatory and binding arbitration in Los Angeles, California, pursuant to the rules of American Arbitration Association. Any trials by jury are expressly waived.
